About this tool

Search engines and social platforms each read a different slice of a page's <head>: Google mostly cares about the title and meta description, Facebook and LinkedIn read Open Graph tags, and X (Twitter) reads its own Twitter Card tags. Missing any of them means a shared link falls back to whatever generic default the platform picks — often an ugly one.

How to use it

  1. Fill in a title and description — the length hints show the range search engines typically display in full without truncating.
  2. Add a canonical URL, site name and an Open Graph image so shared links look intentional rather than blank.
  3. Set robots to index/follow (the default, for a page you want found) or noindex/nofollow for one you don't.
  4. Copy the generated block and paste it into your page's <head>.

Examples

A blog post

Title: How to Convert ZPL to PDF, Description: A step-by-step guide…, OG image: /og/zpl-guide.png
A <title>, meta description, canonical link, and matching Open Graph + Twitter Card tags, all sharing the same title/description/image.

Common problems

My title looks fine here but gets cut off in Google's search results.
Google renders by pixel width, not character count, so the 50–60 character hint is an approximation — keep the most important words near the start, since that's what survives truncation.
