About this tool

Two spreadsheet exports, two versions of an allow-list, an old and a new set of tags — comparing them line by line by eye doesn't scale past a handful of entries. This computes what's only in each list, what they share, and what each list itself repeats.

How to use it

  1. Paste List A and List B, one item per line.
  2. Toggle trimming, case-insensitivity and blank-line handling to match how the lists should be compared.
  3. Read off only-in-A, only-in-B, the shared intersection, the combined union, and each list's own duplicates.

Examples

Comparing two tag lists

List A: Apple, Banana, Cherry, Apple · List B: banana, Date, cherry
Only in A: Apple · Only in B: Date · Intersection: Banana, Cherry · List A duplicates: Apple.

Common problems

Two entries that look identical end up in both "only in A" and "only in B".
They likely differ in whitespace or case — turn on trimming and case-insensitivity, which are off by default for exact-match comparisons, to treat near-identical entries as the same.
