About this tool

A QR code is a two-dimensional barcode that can store URLs, contact information, Wi-Fi credentials, plain text and more. Reading one normally requires a phone camera, but this tool lets you decode any QR code directly from an image file or a public URL — right in your browser.

For public URLs, if the image host blocks cross-origin requests, the tool falls back to a server-side proxy.

How to use it

  1. Switch to the Upload tab and drag-and-drop (or click to select) a PNG, JPG, WebP, GIF or BMP image that contains a QR code.
  2. Alternatively, switch to the URL tab, paste the public address of an image that contains a QR code, then press Decode.
  3. The decoded content appears on the right. A type badge tells you whether it is a URL, email, phone number, Wi-Fi config, or plain text.
  4. Click Copy to copy the result, or Open URL to follow a detected link.
  5. To read another code, click Reset and start over.

Examples

Reading a QR code from a downloaded image

Save any QR code from a website or document as a PNG, then upload it here. The tool reads the raw pixels — it does not need the code to be printed or photographed.

Decoding a Wi-Fi QR code

Many routers display a QR code for guest Wi-Fi. Upload a photo of that code and the tool extracts the SSID, password and security type in WIFI: format.

Common problems

The tool says 'No QR code found' even though I can see one.
Make sure the QR code is sharp and well-lit. Blurry or low-resolution images fail to decode. Try cropping the image so the QR fills most of the frame, or screenshot a digital QR code at screen resolution.
Decoding a URL image fails.
Some image hosts block requests from other websites. The tool automatically falls back to a server-side proxy, but if the host completely blocks all external access the image cannot be fetched. Download the image and use the Upload tab instead.
