About this tool

Sharing a real spreadsheet for a demo, a bug report or a support ticket usually means sharing real customer data along with it — unless the sensitive columns are masked first. This applies a masking strategy per column and never uploads the file to do it.

How to use it

  1. Upload an Excel or CSV file.
  2. For each column, pick a masking strategy: full (all dots), partial (keep the last 4 characters), a consistent hash (same input always masks the same way, useful for joins), or email-aware (keeps the domain, masks the local part).
  3. Preview the masked rows, then download the result as CSV or Excel.

Examples

Masking a customer export before sharing

email column set to "email-aware", phone column set to "partial"
j••••@example.com instead of a real address, and only the last 4 digits of each phone number visible.

Common problems

The hash strategy produces something that still looks reversible.
It's a short, non-cryptographic hash meant for consistent-looking pseudonyms and safe joins between masked files — not real de-identification. Don't rely on it where an irreversible, audited anonymization process is actually required.
