About this tool

Links rot: a page gets renamed, a partner site goes down, a typo in an href never gets caught because it still looks like a link. Finding these by clicking through a site manually doesn't scale past a handful of pages — a bounded crawl that checks every link's status does.

How to use it

  1. Enter a starting URL, choose a crawl depth (how many link-hops to follow) and a page limit.
  2. Press Scan to crawl same-domain pages up to those limits, checking every link's status along the way.
  3. Any link returning an error status, or failing to load at all, is listed with the page it was found on.

Examples

A small site check

Starting URL with depth 2, max 10 pages
A list of every broken link found across up to 10 crawled pages, two hops deep, each with its source page and status code.

Common problems

The scan says it was truncated before finishing.
It hit the page, link or time budget before exhausting every link on the site — this is by design, to keep one scan from running indefinitely; lower the depth or page limit for a faster, narrower pass, or run it again focused on a specific section.
